Online Assignments Week 1

You will find the instructions on your first online assignments and collaborative activities.

Preparation for 1st online group meeting

During our second week of collaboration, you will be asked to take part in your first online meeting. Your instructors have created the groups according to the times you said you were available for telecollaboration (doodle calendar). As soon as your Professors create the groups and meeting times we will post that information, and will send each of you your partners' email addresses.  Each group will have a group leader for the first meeting which we will name in the email (leaders will change throughout the exchange).  The group leader must email the group members to:
  • confirm the meeting time
  • confirm how you will meet (Google Hangout, Skype, etc.)
The students from UIUC are familiar with Google Hangouts on Google Plus, so it might be a good choice, but Skype now has group meetings for free and you can create groups there. The group leader will decide and email to everyone in the group to confirm the time, date and how the connection will be made. You must respond to that email confirming that you have received the information and will attend.

This first online meeting will serve two important functions:
=First, to get to know your group.  This is essential in any telecollaboration.
=Second, to begin to explore working with telecollaborative tools.
You will find instructions on what to do DURING your meeting in another link. However, first there are a few things you should beforehand.

Before your first online meeting (which should take place NO LATER THAN September 19th, midnight YOUR TIME ZONE) you will:
1.  Make sure you have your 36 second introduction video completed and available for viewing (upload it to YouTube, Vimeo, etc. and post the URL for your video in the 'Our Details' document by September 19th, midnight).
2.  Watch the videos from your partners (the names of the groups and the video links will be posted here once your Professors have the completed list).
